Keep in mind that recovering from depression requires time and is a process.

It's important to offer ongoing support and encouragement to your loved one, while also taking care of your own needs.

Here are some things you can do:

  • Offer practical support: Depression can make it difficult for individuals to perform everyday tasks. You can offer practical support by helping with household chores, meal preparation, shopping, or providing transportation to appointments.

  • Encourage professional help: Your loved one may need to seek professional help from a mental health provider. You can offer to help them find a therapist, make an appointment, or help them to research the services that would suit them best.

  • Check in regularly: Depression can make individuals feel isolated and alone. Checking in on your loved one regularly can help them feel supported and connected.

  • Educate yourself: Learn more about depression and its symptoms, and try to understand what your loved one is going through.

  • Take care of yourself: Supporting someone with depression can be emotionally challenging. It's important to take care of your own mental health and well-being by seeking support from others, engaging in self-care, and setting boundaries.

It's important to offer ongoing support and encouragement to your loved one, while also taking care of your own needs.
